A. Pandiani, Ph.D.

John
Pandiani is a sociologist, a researcher, and co-founder of The Bristol
Observatory (TBO). He has a long-standing interest in the utilization of
existing administrative databases to understand the functioning of complex
systems of care. John's research includes a strong focus on mental health and
substance abuse treatment outcomes, especially as they relate to criminal
justice, education and other human service programs. At TBO, John is
responsible for research design and report writing, and has directed cross
service sector studies for more than 20 federal, state, and private
organizations.
John
holds a doctorate in sociology and research methods from the University of
Connecticut, a bachelors degree of sociology from University of Notre Dame and
a Certificate in Public Management from the State of Vermont. In addition to
his work with The Bristol Observatory, John has served as Mental Health Research
and Statistics Chief in Vermont for 28 years. Before joining the state, John
was Research Director at Washington County Mental Health and Assistant Professor
of Sociology at Middlebury College in Vermont. He has published extensively in
mental health program evaluation and service system research, with more than 50

Jill
Mackler, Ed.D.
Director of Operations

Jill
Mackler, an educator, administrator and researcher, has served as the Director
of Operations at The Bristol Observatory since 2002. Her responsibilities
include contract and fiscal management, personnel, and organizational oversight.
As a former English teacher, Jill also serves as staff grammarian and copy
editor.
Jill
holds a doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Vermont
and has served as an educator and administrator in Vermont public schools for
more than 30 years. She has directed major grant funded programs for
educational research and policy development. She also coordinated the Graduate
Program in Educational Administration at Saint Michael's College. Recently
retired from an elementary school principalship, Jill brings a practitioner's
perspective to TBO, where she hopes to continue her long-term research interest
on the impact of interagency collaboration between education and human service
programs.
Karen
L. Danyow
Lead Data Analyst

Karen
Danyow, a data specialist, technology consultant and teacher, has served as
TBO's principal data analyst since 1998. Karen's responsibilities include data
analysis and report preparation; managing the flow and secure storage of all
data; and web page management. Karen is certified in Health Information Technology as a
Technical/Software Support Specialist and is a Certified Microsoft Trainer. She also trains and supports other data
analysts.
Her professional interests center on the technology of database
development and management.
In
addition to her work with The Bristol Observatory, Karen teaches the full range
of Microsoft Office Suite products as well as accounting software applications.
For the past 20 years, she has worked in computer technology providing database
and web page development services to a variety of small businesses and public
agencies.

Christine Davies, M.S.
Statistician
Christine
Davies is a consulting statistician with The Bristol Observatory. She has
worked with TBO since 2004 as a data analyst, with a focus on caseload overlap
and organizational complexity. Christine's professional experience includes
positions with the Vermont Department of Mental Health and the US Census
Bureau.
Christine
holds a Master's degree in Biostatistics from the University of Vermont.
